Back to Basics

June 2, 2013

H&M tank top, Forever 21 jersey skirt, Target shoes, Coach Purse

I enjoy wearing basics more than anything else. They are simple, classic, and effortless way to look put together. Easily dressed up or dressed down depending on the occasion. I love the texture and lines on the high-waisted skater skirt since it gives it a little more uniqueness. Target always seems to have the cutest prints, colors and patterns and since polka dots are my favorite print, I chose to contrast the plain solids outfit with a pop of pattern on the shoes. This coach purse is my everyday purse that holds my necessities (ie. phone, chapstick, money, etc) and is also a very basic yet classic design that goes with almost anything. I am on the hunt for a new everyday purse that is also just as compact and a little more casual for the summertime and other outdoor activities.

Not Another Wall Flower

January 21, 2013

Express sweater, Target Mossimo scarf, Paige denim jeans, American Apparel Philip Persio watch, Etienne Aigner 'Gilbert' boots

I am in love with this scarf as it catches your attention right away. Beautiful colors that make it very wearable with many different outfits. I would normally wear it with a more subtle black top but on this mesh knit sweater from Express it seems to be more loud. I love these dark wash jeans by Paige because they are much more professional and give a polished look compared to my other washed out and faded jeans. A great addition to my now more "adult" closet. I've also added to my watch collection with this simple and clean black leather Men's vintage watch from American Apparel. However, I can't say that I instantly loved my new Etienne Aigner boots. I bought them online at SlimCalfboot.com and had them custom made for my slimmer calves and they turned out a little too tight. The store provided me great customer service and stretched out the boot for me once again so that I could wear them more comfortably. They are a very nice classic riding boot with the logo printed along the shaft and the darker leather is great for the fall and winter time. A great quality boot overall.

Sunday Morning Blues

October 21, 2012

On Meena: H&M shirt, H&M khakis, Target belt, Aldo bag, Paprika loafers, Casio watch
On Crystal: Gap sweater, miniskirt, knit scarf, Forever 21 heels, Tag Heuer watch

My boyfriend got me a nice camera for my birthday.. can you tell? :) Meena and I are having so much fun doing this blog together and we're really excited to be able to take blog-quality photos from now on. We chose this location because we liked the cool tunnel effect the blue bridge has on our pictures.

Meena is sporting a casual work outfit that you can wear to the office. It is simple, clean, and preppy. Her bag is simple and classic too and looks like the Longchamp bag, but she got it for only $10! She said it was the last one in stock so they gave her an additional discount. I personally love large bags because it allows you to bring a lot of things with you so you can be prepared for any situation.

I paired an oversized sweater and drapey scarf with a short skirt and tall heels to create a warm and comfortable look that is still cute, girly, and flirty. If I have on something revealing, I always balance it out with a more conservative piece.. gotta keep it classy. I got the floral skirt in Japan.. I love it because it always adds a feminine pop of color to my outfit.

Into the Woods

September 26, 2012

On Meena: H&M dress, Gap cardigan, Bakers heels, Target belt, Express bracelet, FE earrings
On Crystal:  Metro Park halter dress, Forever 21 platform sandals, Chloe sunglasses

It's definitely starting to feel more like fall, especially in this setting. The leaves are starting to change colors and there's a chill in the air. We decided to post together this week since our outfits were similar for once and we seem to coincidently have a theme of braids.

I like to put my hair in a braid when I'm having a bad hair day, and what better way to show off your earrings. I keep reaching for this chunky cardigan now that it's cooling down. Its so warm and comfy and I make sure to roll up the sleeves to look casual and effortless. I often times like to take something dressy like a lace dress and dress it down with a casual sweater or shoes. I used to strongly dislike gold and brown accessories but since they are really in style this year, I'm now obsessed with brown leather and gold jewelry. They seem to go well together too.

Crystal's neutral dress is very sparkly and has a slight metallic feel to it. I see a lot more dresses with interesting backs now and it's a great way to show some skin but not too much. The braided straps make this dress unique as well. Platform heels are an awesome way to add  funkiness to your outfit yet stay feminine. Not to mention adding a good 6 inches to your height!

On the Other Side/ Colorblock

September 7, 2012

On Meena: H&M blouse, American Apparel skirt, Target belt, Aldo heels, Casio watch
On Crystal: Francesca's Collection dress, Nordstrom scarf, Macy's sandals

Hi everyone! We're so excited for our first blog post and we found this awesome spot right by where we live. Meena's outfit is very soft and flowy in earthy colors. We had perfect timing with the sunset and a lot of beginners luck. I decided to go with a colorful look for the summertime, and I always like to pair my outfits with a bold and eclectic purse, scarf, or hairpiece.
