Minty Pearls

June 17, 2013

H&M top, Charlotte Russe shorts, Forever 21 sandals, Forever 21 bracelet

This is a very casual summer outfit that I decided to dress and glam up with pearl and diamond accessories. Though it is difficult to see from the pictures, the H&M top is a pearly shiny material in the front and a more sheer cotton material in the back. The sleeves are cuffed for a more casual and unique touch. Since the top is very boxy and shapeless, I decided to slightly tuck it into my shorts for a more fitted look. The cut off mint green shorts are a fun color perfect for the summer. They are very comfortable and a great fit. The summery sandals I decided to pair this outfit with are very casual yet glamorous with the gem detailing. To finish off the look I decided to add a pearl bracelet that goes well with the shirt and the overall glamorous theme. Hope you are all enjoying the summer weather :)

Back to Basics

June 2, 2013

H&M tank top, Forever 21 jersey skirt, Target shoes, Coach Purse

I enjoy wearing basics more than anything else. They are simple, classic, and effortless way to look put together. Easily dressed up or dressed down depending on the occasion. I love the texture and lines on the high-waisted skater skirt since it gives it a little more uniqueness. Target always seems to have the cutest prints, colors and patterns and since polka dots are my favorite print, I chose to contrast the plain solids outfit with a pop of pattern on the shoes. This coach purse is my everyday purse that holds my necessities (ie. phone, chapstick, money, etc) and is also a very basic yet classic design that goes with almost anything. I am on the hunt for a new everyday purse that is also just as compact and a little more casual for the summertime and other outdoor activities.

Sequins and Cherries

May 25, 2013

Express (Minus the) Leather Moto Jacket, Abercrombie and Fitch tank, H&M shorts, Forever 21 booties, Juicy Couture bracelet

This is an extremely edgy look with the leather jacket and booties but feminine as well with the flowy top with floral sequin design. I like the tough look this jacket gives to a soft dress or feminine piece but I enjoy wearing it with jeans and boots as well on a night out. It has a great fit zipped up as well and fits snug, so it still accentuates my curves unlike other jackets. Overall it is a very classic piece that I will love for years. The black sheer top from Abercrombie immediately caught my eye in the store and I knew I had to have it since the design pops. Another obviously bold statement are the bright red shorts. They are very fitted and somewhat high waisted. The Juicy Couture bracelet was a gift that I would not have purchased on my own but now I love it and wear it mostly with edgier looks or black clothing.

I'm on track

April 7, 2013

Nordstrom Chloe K studded tank, Cotton On cardigan, Cotton On jeans, H&M flats

I like how the train tracks merge behind me. It was fun balancing on the tracks to take pictures. This is a casual outfit for a day walking around downtown Davis. I only keep adding to my collection of colored jeans and these darker green ones are a fun color for spring that I could maybe pair with a floral top. The tank top is a cream color with a sheer back that is longer than the front. The black cardigan is very sheer and light as well and a great cover up on the warmer days. The suede flats are my new favorite everyday shoe. The nude color goes well with a lot of different outfits and almost feels like I am not wearing anything. Pictures courtesy of my boyfriend :)

A Day in the Capital

March 31, 2013

PacSun floral top, H&M jeans, Franco Sarto wedge boots

I had some fun exploring Sacramento this weekend. It had some nice views and I thought it would be a great place to take some pictures on this very nice and sunny day. This top is a great way to transition into spring. I love this floral print because the print is simple and nice and the flowers aren't too large or bold. It's a very basic top with a casual fit and a lace like texture. The tan jeans from H&M are very fitted and I can see them becoming a staple in my wardrobe for the spring. Paired with the boots I feel like an equestrian. The boots are a fun lighter brown leather and the buckles along the side allow you to tighten or loosen as you like. The hidden wedge is very nice and adds some height while still being comfortable.

Autumn Reds

December 2, 2012

On Crystal: Asos dress, Aldo heels
On Meena: H&M sweater, H&M skirt, Jessica Simpson boots, BaubleBar necklace

We love that red is in this fall, from bright red to oxblood red and all the reds in between. We couldn't have found a better spot for this photo shoot with the slowly changing leaves to match our outfits.

My oxblood cable knit sweater is the perfect sweater for the fall. Its very warm and comfy but I do find it itchy at times. Aside from that, the sweater brings out the purple-y reds in the flower printed skirt. I love these boots for the fall. Despite their massive heel, I have found them to be extremely comfortable and sexy at the same time. I love wearing simple delicate necklaces rather than statement piece jewelry and this heart necklace from BaubleBar was a gift for my birthday and it has been attached to me ever since.

Crystal and I love going on Asos.com to find our dresses now. There is such a wide selection of dresses in many styles and colors. Their free shipping and return policy is extremely convenient and easy but I have to admit I end up putting way too many dresses in my cart in the end hehe. Her dress is casual yet elegant with a flattering plunging neckline and  the sheer puffy sleeves are unique yet sophisticated. This is a very feminine dress and great for a party at night or a fun event in the day. The nude heels are a perfect compliment to the bright dress.

Teal Swallows/ Incognito

November 24, 2012

On Meena: Frenchi sweater, H&M pants, headband gift from Taiwan, Paprika loafers
On Crystal: Banana Republic cardigan, BR jeans, Brass Plum u-neck tank, Bakers booties

We are back! After a busy birthday and holiday season we are now going to be posting much more.

My outfit seems very reminiscent of a preppy school girl with the headband, pearls and crew neck sweater. It's not a slouchy big sweater that we see everywhere now. It's small and fitted and the swallows on the sweater make it girly and sweet. I feel like I am more studious and belong in the library. I love wearing these pants because they fit well and are a less casual option than jeans.

Crystal describes her outfit:
"This is my go-to look when I want to be inconspicuous, run to the market, or do some people watching. With my hair pulled up, big shades, and shapeless cardigan I feel incognito but still stylish. My new lace-up booties from Bakers have become my favorite everyday shoe. They are so comfortable, match with everything I own, and still add a good couple of inches to my height :) "

Sunday Morning Blues

October 21, 2012

On Meena: H&M shirt, H&M khakis, Target belt, Aldo bag, Paprika loafers, Casio watch
On Crystal: Gap sweater, miniskirt, knit scarf, Forever 21 heels, Tag Heuer watch

My boyfriend got me a nice camera for my birthday.. can you tell? :) Meena and I are having so much fun doing this blog together and we're really excited to be able to take blog-quality photos from now on. We chose this location because we liked the cool tunnel effect the blue bridge has on our pictures.

Meena is sporting a casual work outfit that you can wear to the office. It is simple, clean, and preppy. Her bag is simple and classic too and looks like the Longchamp bag, but she got it for only $10! She said it was the last one in stock so they gave her an additional discount. I personally love large bags because it allows you to bring a lot of things with you so you can be prepared for any situation.

I paired an oversized sweater and drapey scarf with a short skirt and tall heels to create a warm and comfortable look that is still cute, girly, and flirty. If I have on something revealing, I always balance it out with a more conservative piece.. gotta keep it classy. I got the floral skirt in Japan.. I love it because it always adds a feminine pop of color to my outfit.
